Dean “Kamikaze” Mayer started racing as a youngster.  As he comes from a family who are big into racing and always involved in some form of motorsport or other it seems to be in he’s blood.  He’s dad is currently racing Wesbank Super Series V8’s.
Dean started off racing go-karts, messed around with a little Citi Golf as well which he did up and did drag racing in the evenings.  But to quote Dean himself “I really have been riding and driving anything and everything I can with an engine in it since I knew what an engine does.”
He started racing in the Clubmans in March of this year, started in Class D, having raced a total of 6 races to date with 2 wins and 1 third place, he has now moved to Class C.  He’s current racing car is a VW Golf 2.0 8v built by Volkswagen Motorsport as a race car.

Race day 05 June 2010
Class D boasts three very close competitors up front with everyone in with a chance of victory. Dean Meyer secured the first heat by less than a second from Simon Balie and they had a mere three second gap back to a hard charging Carlos Lawrence. Carlos returned after the luncheon interval with the elastics tied up even tighter and posted a very happy class win, Simon again securing a second and Dean dropping down to third. The rest of the class was somewhat spread out behind that.
